Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The "Chase cut-off race" at Richmond International Raceway headlines a busy weekend of racing. Meanwhile, the IndyCar Series title will be decided in the season finale at Chicagoland.

Chevy Rock & Roll 400 - Richmond International Raceway - Richmond, VA
It's now or never for several drivers to secure the remaining seven positions in this year's "Chase for the Sprint Cup" championship. Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jeff Burton have already qualified, while Greg Biffle and Kevin Harvick will also make the "Chase" by simply starting in Saturday night's Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway, which is the final race of the regular season.
The daughter of Gary Hanks, a former semipro footballer in England who moved to Texas before she was born, Hanks is the most prolific offensive player in the college game today. She won the Hermann Trophy as a sophomore in 2006 -- the only sophomore, male or female, ever to win college soccer's most prestigious individual award -- and joined former North Carolina legend Mia Hamm as the only two players to lead the nation in both goals and assists for a season. With nearly a full season left to play, she needs one more assist to become the sixth women's player in NCAA history to total 60 goals and 60 assists during a career; barring injury, she should become just the third to reach 70 and 70.
She's fast, but there are faster forwards. She's strong and possesses a powerful shot, but there are stronger strikers. She's nimble with the ball but not noticeably more so than some other elite technicians. Where Hanks stands alone is in her ability to harness all of those myriad physical abilities within a tactician's mindset
NHL News - Bruins put in the call for veteran forward Yelle
By Kevin Paul Dupont
September 4, 2008
Looking to add veteran presence, in part to fill the leadership role vacated when Glen Murray's contract was bought out in July, the Bruins yesterday signed seasoned NHL forward Stephane Yelle to a one-year, free agent deal worth $750,000.
A center/wing, Yelle, 34, is effective at faceoffs and also has been a key component on penalty-killing squads during his dozen seasons with Colorado and Calgary. He is not as slick or clever on offense as Glen Metropolit, but he has a more tenacious game and much of the overall versatility that Metropolit showed here last season before signing with the Flyers as an unrestricted free agent in July.
"There is a defensive bent to his game," noted Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli, who, in a prior work life as a player agent, was a member of the Larry Kelly-led firm in Ottawa that still represents Yelle. "He gives us some depth, both center and wing, up and down our lineup."
92.89. ...As in, Canadian cents in a U.S. dollar. That was how low the loonie slipped for a time on Wednesday. By day's end it had bumped back up over 94 cents. But everyone seems to acknowledge that the days of a Canadian dollar at par with its American cousin are likely gone for a while.
Some forecast a dollar in the 95-cent range; others think it could dip to 87-90 cents. Others say it's simply being prettied up for the November U.S. election.
But everyone agrees, this is a watershed period for the U.S. dollar. Marc Chandler, currency strategist at Brown Brothers Harriman, told reporters, "The magnitude of the dollar's moves and the breaking of key technical levels suggest that a major shift in the outlook towards the dollar is occurring as massive positions are adjusted."
My head suddenly hurts . . . In any event, the decline in the loonie is great news if Canadians have a product Americans want (wonder what that might be?) that they can now buy at it lower price. But it is not a good omen for industries that get a bounce from parity between the dollars
