Charles Woodson feeling no pain as Packers win Super Bowl XLV
By Peter King
February 7, 2011
Arlington, TX This game didn't have the Velcro catch of Giants 17, Patriots 14, or the scintillating drive and Santonio Holmes-catch of Steelers 27, Cardinals 23, or the Tracy Porter pick-six-ness of Saints 31, Colts 17. This game had a little letdown at the end, because we thought we might see some all-time drama from Ben Roethlisberger, again, in the last two minutes, and we didn't. But that's OK -- we've been getting spoiled with great Super Bowls. And compared to the crummy ones we saw for most of a generation, a B-plus football game with some great storylines in the last game of the year is just fine.

Big Ben unable to deliver this time
By Les Carpenter
February 7, 2011
Arlington, TX For once things didnt work out for Ben Roethlisberger. He had no more indictments to dodge; no cheering crowds to serenade him as he left the Cowboys Stadium field. Once again, the Super Bowl came down to him, to a final 2:07. Only this time he couldnt deliver the championship..

QB play, WR speed will outweigh defensive excellence in Super Bowl
By Peter King
February 3, 2011
Arlington, TX With two of the smartest defensive minds in football and two of the best defenses in the game facing off Sunday in Texas, logic says this should be a 17-13 pitchers duel. I am not logical.

Longer NFL schedule tests NFL Players Union motivations
By Michael Rosenberg
February 3, 2011
As you probably know, the NFL is headed for LABOR ARMAGEDDON!!! and is in real danger of canceling the entire 2011 season. Actually, I don't think that will happen. Labor negotiations -- not just in sports -- are almost always filled with dire warnings, posturing and bluffs. This is why I'm glad I didn't marry a labor lawyer. It sounds stressful.

Super Bowl XLV, Packers vs Steelers, one for history books
By Peter King
January 24, 2011
Chicago, IL We'll get to the Super Bowl matchup that Doris Kearns Goodwin would love (it's historic, for those not familiar with Ms. Goodwin's work), and to the volcanic Jay Cutler situation, and to one of the greatest predictions in sports history (sort of) soon enough. But I begin this morning with two things -- the Super Bowl XLV Factoid That Will Interest Everyone, and something Packers GM Ted Thompson said, uncharacteristically, in the winning locker room 45 minutes after Green Bay 21, Chicago 14: "I think this game was good for America.''

In defense of Jay Cutler
By MJD
January 24, 2011
Chicago, IL "Quitter" is about the worst label you can put on an NFL player. It's a culture where toughness is lionized and valued above all else -- if you're "tough," you're accepted, and if you're not, you have no one's respect.
After what happened Sunday, Jay Cutler is probably stuck with the "quitter" label for the rest of his career. At the very least, it's a question mark that'll follow him around for a long time.

Super Bowl in New York is all but a hard, cold reality for NFL
By Don Banks
May 14, 2010
New York, NY Now that the idea of an outdoor Super Bowl played in the chill of early February is just days shy of making the leap from concept to, uh, cold, hard reality, it's time to take a look at what the 2014 game in the New York area might hold in store, from as many perspectives as we can conjure up.

Is the Super Bowl in cold weather NY city a good idea?
By Jeff Pearlman
May 14, 2010
New York, NY On Jan. 1, 1987, a kid named David Clingerman knocked on my door with a surprise. "I've got two tickets for this Sunday's NFC Divisional playoff game at Giants Stadium," he said. "My dad and I can't use them. For $40, they're yours."
