Bodine wins Camping World Truck Series, Darlington

Now, Bodine can add a Camping World Truck Series victory to his Darlington success.

Bodine doesn’t miss a beat in Nashville

Gladeville, TN — It was a long time coming, but Saturday night Todd Bodine finally came away from Nashville with a guitar over his shoulder.

Bodine won Nashville Superspeedway’s trademark trophy Gibson guitar by blowing away the field in the Nashville 200. He got his 19th career win in the NASCAR Camping World Series. The victory snapped a long winless streak in Music City that stretched back to Bodine’s trips to historic old Fairgrounds Speedway.

NASCAR opens Hall of Fame in Charlotte

Charlotte, NC — The rumble from a pair of motors interrupted the opening ceremony at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Nobody seemed to mind, though, when Richard Petty pulled his 1974 Dodge Charger onto the ceremonial plaza, with Junior Johnson trailing in a 1940 Ford. The two members of NASCAR’s inaugural Hall of Fame class climbed from the cars they are most associated with to a rousing ovation.

Darlington, SC — Dale Earnhardt Jr. has disliked Darlington Raceway since his 2000 rookie season debut. A good car quickly went bad, Earnhardt crashed, then worried he'd never make a career as a driver if he couldn't handle NASCAR's oldest superspeedway.

"He's like all but ready to quit, it's that bad, it's like 'There's no way I can race here a million times,' " crew chief Lance McGrew said Earnhardt told him Friday about that 40th-place debut.

Bobby Hutchens may not be a familiar name, but he’s worked closely with some of NASCAR’s biggest stars. He was one of NASCAR’s very first engineers, working at Richard Childress Racing for four of Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s seven titles.

Talladega, AL — There was once a time when every move Dale Earnhardt Jr. made in a restrictor-plate race was the right one. He could slice his way through the field, drive to the front whenever he wanted, and was always the guy to beat at Daytona and Talladega.

That four-year stretch netted Earnhardt seven victories at NASCAR's two fastest tracks, and gave him a confidence and air of invincibility.

Hamlin wins again at Texas Motor Speedway

Fort Worth, TX — Denny Hamlin went ahead in the closing 12-lap shootout for a victory at Texas Motor Speedway on Monday, holding off Jimmie Johnson at the end to win another rain-delayed race.

Hamlin won for the second time in three races, both victories coming in races that were postponed by rain before being run on the first day of the week.

Giving up your car is the most painful part of getting hurt

Jeff Burton doesn’t remember the race, he doesn’t remember the year. All he remembers is that he had to get out of the car.

“I just couldn’t do it,” the Cup Series driver said Friday at Phoenix International Raceway. “I had severe vertigo, and I just couldn’t drive. I could do it for a little while, but over a period of time, it just got worse and worse and worse. I finally just had to get out.”

Hamlin limping to start of Pepsi 600

Avondale, AZ — With a slight limp but without the aid of crutches, Denny Hamlin walked through the garage at Phoenix International Raceway, made his way to his car and, facing the rear bumper, lifted his left leg through the driver’s side window, twisted his body and climbed in under his own power. Not bad for being only nine days removed from total reconstructive knee surgery.

Denny Hamlin says his surgically repaired left knee is “painful,” but he’s hopeful to race in Saturday night’s Subway 600 at Phoenix International Raceway.

“It’s painful – as anyone who has had this surgery or any similar surgery can tell you – but I am working hard to get back my full range of motion and get back to where I need to be,”
