Detroit set for Tigers, Lions double-tilt

Please forgive, in advance, if you meet a distracted Detroiter today, or a sleepy one on Tuesday.
With the Tigers taking on the Rangers in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series at 4:15 p.m. in Texas, and the Lions facing division rival Chicago in a Monday Night Football game at Ford Field at 8:30 p.m.
When weather prompted Sunday s Game 2 to be postponed, it pushed the A.L.C.S. game into the off day and created a wild Monday for Detroit fans.
The Rangers lead the series, 1-0, while the Lions enter tonights game with a 4-0 record.
The city is abuzz, hoping for wins from both teams.
The Detroit News is reporting that the citys downtown hotels are booked solid for football, and bars and restaurants are expecting big business from baseball and Monday Night Football. Ford Field, which seats 65,000, is sold out because the tickets were snapped up within hours.
We have a great opportunity to showcase our city (tonight), and with that comes a great responsibility with showcasing the good things we have, Lions President Tom Lewand told the Detroit News. I think our fans bring an energy that is really unique
and its pretty special.
The Tigers day off didnt do much to help their growing injury situation, as the team announced Magglio Ordoñez will be out for the rest of the playoffs due to a broken right ankle. Outfielder Delmon Young, who had been ruled out of the Rangers series because of a strained oblique muscle, was activated by the Tigers on Monday.
According to the Tigers official Twitter page, which posted the starting lineup at about 12:30 p.m., Young is playing left field and batting third.
After initially calling Young a game-time decision, Leyland announced Young would start.
This is the second time in two seasons that Ordoñez has sustained a broken right ankle. He incurred the injury sometime during Saturdays Game 1 in Texas, with X-rays on Sunday revealing the fracture.
This is a great opportunity for us to show how tough we are, Tigers Manager Jim Leyland told the Detroit Free Press. And were tough. Nobody is going to feel sorry for us. I dont want anybody feeling sorry for us. Well make do. Well come out
ready to play.
